![]() Chuck Callahan
Chuck Callahan is a singer / songwriter and producer who has been making music for over twenty-five years. Guitar and bass have been his main instruments, although he has some ability on keyboards and drums. Chuck has played many gigs, ranging from solo acoustic performances to loud six piece rock bands in bars, parties and college quads. In the past decade Chuck's focus has shifted from performance to songwriting and production. He began writing seriously eight years ago, when he bought his first computer recording rig (Mac blue and white with a MOTU 896 interface) and found the creative outlet he needed to balance the dry analytics of a mechanical engineering career (now a finance career). A great lover of instruments and gadgets, Chuck's home is his studio, with an eight core Mac Pro tricked out with a slew of plug-ins and virtual instruments, digital audio interfaces, mics, preamps, monitors, guitars, basses, keyboards, amps and a drum kit. Creation is Chuck's main focus: getting the idea out of one's head and into sound, rehearsing, getting that sound into "the box" in the most efficient and honest way possible, then mixing and mastering to bring the pieces together, polish the sound and bring the song out of "the box" again. It is a challenging but rewarding endeavor. In the past eight years, Chuck has written over twenty songs on his own, collaborated with his father on over twenty more, and worked with other musicians in New York and Connecticut jointly on many original compositions. His time is now divided roughly 50/50 between creation and marketing, where he is networking and using his connections to get the music he has labored to produce into the right hands.
